Lawyers at the Bhopal district court allegedly assaulted a man accused of raping and blackmailing an 11th-grade student, leading to chaos inside court premises. Police had to use force to rescue the accused and escort him safely out.
Bhopal: A shocking incident was reported from the Bhopal district court complex on Monday, where a group of lawyers allegedly assaulted a man accused of raping and blackmailing an 11th-grade school student. The accused was identified as Osaf Ali Khan.
According to reports, the Koh-e-Fiza police station police brought the accused to the court premises for legal proceedings. As soon as the accused was seen, several lawyers present at the court surrounded him. Eyewitnesses stated that the lawyers lost control and started beating him, which soon led to chaos inside the court complex.

The situation became tense when some lawyers allegedly tried to snatch the accused from police custody. This resulted in a scuffle between the police personnel and the lawyers.
Court work was disrupted for some time due to the pushing, shouting, and commotion. Videos of the incident have surfaced on social media. One of the videos is reportedly from February 2 and shows the accused being assaulted amid heavy crowding.
Police officials used force to control the situation and managed to rescue the accused from the crowd. He was then safely escorted out of the court premises to prevent further violence.

The case came to light after the victim, an 11th-grade student studying in a reputed school in Shahpura, informed her family about the incident. Following this, a complaint was lodged at the Koh-e-Fiza police station.
According to Koh-e-Fiza police station SHO Krishna Gopal Shukla, the accused often used to come near the school to meet a friend of the victim. During these visits, he became acquainted with the student through a mutual friend.
Last year in July, the accused allegedly called the victim on the pretext of showing her around Bhopal. He reportedly took her to a secluded area in Khanugaon. There, inside a car, he allegedly raped the student. When the victim protested, the accused allegedly silenced her by promising marriage.
The police further stated that during the assault, the accused secretly recorded an obscene video of the victim without her consent. After some time, he allegedly started blackmailing her by threatening to make the video viral. He demanded ₹1 lakh from the student in exchange for not releasing the video.
Out of fear of public humiliation and social stigma, the student reportedly managed to arrange ₹40,000 and handed it over to the accused. The matter later reached the police, leading to the accused’s arrest.
The incident has raised serious concerns about safety within court premises and the growing anger among legal professionals in cases involving sexual crimes. Police officials have stated that strict action will be taken as per law, both in the criminal case against the accused and regarding the assault inside the court complex.
