After the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad, NALSA launches a special helpdesk to provide legal aid and emotional support. The initiative is guided by Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice Surya Kant.

New Delhi: On June 17, after the heartbreaking Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad that caused many deaths and left several families devastated, the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA), working under the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), has stepped in to provide emergency legal and psychological support to the families affected by the tragedy.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, this special support system has been launched to help the grieving families deal with the legal formalities and emotional trauma resulting from the crash.
The initiative has been introduced as an immediate response to ensure that those affected by this tragedy are not left alone in such difficult times.
the release said,
“In the wake of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, which has resulted in an immense loss of lives and brought untold suffering to the victims and their families, the NALSA expresses its deepest condolences and solidarity with all those affected. In this hour of grief, the legal services institutions of the country reaffirm their commitment to serving the people in times of crisis,”
To address the situation quickly and effectively, the Gujarat authority has launched a special emergency support system called the
“Planecrash legal support helpdesk.”
This helpdesk has been set up to offer all necessary legal guidance and mental health assistance to the victims’ families.
The initiative is being carried out under the guidance of NALSA’s top leadership – Patron-in-Chief Chief Justice B R Gavai and Executive Chairperson Justice Surya Kant. Their involvement reflects the seriousness with which the legal services institutions are treating this tragedy.
Through this helpdesk, families will receive help with issues such as compensation claims, insurance formalities, and other legal procedures.
In addition, mental health experts will be available to offer counselling and emotional support to those who are struggling to cope with the loss of their loved ones.
This step by NALSA and GSLSA shows how legal services authorities are playing a strong and compassionate role in disaster response by combining legal aid with mental health care.
Their message is clear – justice and support must be available even during the darkest times.
The “Planecrash legal support helpdesk” is now active and will continue to assist all affected individuals in Ahmedabad and nearby areas in the coming days.
