Today, On 5th March: Suchana Seth, CEO of an AI company, accused of her son’s murder, the Goa Court has granted approval for a mental health examination. The decision comes amidst mounting speculation and concern regarding Seth’s mental state and its potential relevance to the case.

Panaji, Goa: Today, on March 5, a Goa court granted permission to the father of Suchana Seth, CEO of an artificial intelligence start-up who stands accused of the tragic killing of her four-year-old son during a visit to the state, to have his daughter’s mental health evaluated by a board of doctors.
The application for the examination of Seth’s mental condition was initiated by her father and presented before the children’s court, citing provisions under the Mental Healthcare Act.
Despite objections from the police during the proceedings, asserting that Seth had not displayed indications of mental instability during prior assessments conducted while in custody, the court ruled in favor of the application.
Representing Seth’s father, the lawyer emphasized that following the court’s decision, the police are obligated to present Seth, aged 39, before a medical board to undergo a comprehensive evaluation of her mental state.
“The essence of the ruling mandates her referral to a board governed by the Mental Health Act for further evaluation,” stated the lawyer.
Initially opposing the plea, the Goa police informed the court that since Seth’s arrest in January, she had undergone routine health evaluations, including assessments of her mental well-being, during her detention.

According to the police, Seth’s responses during assessments demonstrated clarity and rationality, with no indication of suicidal tendencies or desires for self-harm. Furthermore, her judgement remained unimpaired, and no symptoms suggestive of psychosis or mood disorders were observed.
Seth, the CEO of an AI start-up based in neighboring Karnataka, stands accused of the tragic death of her son in a service apartment in Candolim, Goa. Her arrest on January 8 in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka occurred while she was traveling with her son’s body concealed in a bag, amidst an ongoing divorce dispute with her husband.
