The Kolkata High Court has issued a notice regarding allegations of corruption in a teacher recruitment case at a school in Murshidabad. The court has demanded thorough investigation into the matter to verify the lack of cooperation from the School Service Commission and the Board of Secondary Education. Justice Biswajit Bose emphasized the need for immediate arrests of those named in the FIR and has hinted at stringent measures against non-cooperative entities.

KOLKATA: On Wednesday (21st February), SSC recruitment corruption in teacher appointments at Suther Gotha A.R. High School in Murshidabad led the Kolkata High Court issued a notice. The court has expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of cooperation from the School Service Commission (SSC) and the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in the ongoing investigation, including locking up their offices if necessary.

During a hearing presided over by Justice Biswajit Bose, the High Court emphasized the accelerating the investigation into the corruption charges. The Central Investigation Department (CID) has been instructed to detain individuals implicated in the First Information Report (FIR). The allegations involving Ashish Tiwari, the headmaster of Suti Gotha AR High School, who is accused of securing a teaching position for his son through fraudulent means.

The CID, while presenting its case, highlighted challenges in obtaining necessary documents and cooperation from the SSC and the Board. Justice Bose asked a question about the effectiveness of the investigation. The judge’s comments reflect a demand for a more proactive approach to gathering evidence, including direct collection from the involved school if necessary.

The case was heard in the High Court on Wednesday. The CID said they approached the SSC and the board for the purpose of an investigation. But in many cases, the necessary help is not available from there. Justice Basu said that the court has confidence in the CID’s investigation.

But the court wanted an explanation as to why the CID has not arrested the persons named in the FIR.

The judge asked the CID lawyer,

“If the accused named in the FIR are not arrested, then what is the investigation? If no documents are available from the commission or the board, go directly to the school. Collect the documents from there. Is it a big deal?” work?” “Shall I sit here, or shall I go and sit in your seat?”
said the judge, slammed the CID.

At the same time, Justice Bose directed the state to consider whether the decision to freeze the salaries of those accused of corruption could be reversed or not. The court called for the appearance of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the CID, who was unable to attend due to being out of town. The CID has requested an additional 15 days for further investigation, indicating the complexity and seriousness of the case.
