New Delhi: In an uplifting story, the life of a seven-year-old girl saved with the help of the Supreme Court Bar Association. The daughter of a Supreme Court lawyer diagnosed with Fanconi anemia, needing a costly bone marrow transplant. Although her father could only gather ₹13 lakh for the treatment, which was far less than the ₹33 lakh needed, he sought help from the Bar Association.
Bar Secretary Rohit Pandey and Joint Secretary Meenesh Dubey quickly organized support. Senior lawyers, including Chandra Uday Singh, Raj Shekhar Rao, Paras Kuhad, Guru Krishna Kumar, Sonia Mathur, and Narendra Hooda, collectively donated around ₹5 lakh. However, there still a ₹15 lakh shortfall despite their contributions.
Meenesh Dubey, determined to close the financial gap, reached out to senior lawyer Harish Salve for assistance. Upon hearing about the urgent need, Mr. Salve promptly pledged ₹15 lakh for the treatment. He transferred the funds the very next day, ensuring that the girl could start her treatment without delay. This quick and generous act brought hope and relief to the family, marking the successful end of their efforts to save the child’s life.
Reflecting on this compassionate response, Meenesh Dubey highlighted the father’s struggle as a first-generation lawyer who couldn’t afford the entire treatment cost. Seeing the urgency, the Bar Association stood by him, doing everything possible to secure the funds needed.
