Friday (15th March): The Rajasthan POCSO Court, sentenced a man to 20 years imprisonment for raping and abducting a minor, with the verdict backed by compelling circumstantial evidence.

Kota, Rajasthan: On Friday (15th March): A POCSO court in Rajasthan sentenced a 26-year-old man to 20 years imprisonment for the abduction and rape of a minor girl in Bundi district three years ago.

The convicted individual, identified as Mohsin Khan, a resident of Bundi City area, was found guilty based on substantial evidence, including a DNA test report and circumstantial evidence presented during the trial. Despite the minor girl turning hostile during the proceedings, the court made a decision against Khan under IPC Section 193.

The court imposed a stringent penalty, sentencing Khan to 20 years imprisonment and levying a fine of Rs 1.30 lakh. The severity of the punishment reflects the gravity of the crime committed, sending a clear message that such heinous acts will not be tolerated in society.

Khan fainted and collapsed in the courtroom during hearing the verdict. He was immediately transferred to a hospital under police custody for medical attention.

Background

The case followed after the victim’s mother filed a complaint on July 20, 2021, after her daughter went missing. The authorities led to the rescue of the girl on July 24, 2021. Subsequent investigations and the victim’s statement implicated Khan, resulting in his arrest under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
