Mumbai: The special court cancelled the bailable warrant issued against Pragya Singh Thakur, the Bhopal BJP MP, after she appeared before it. The court acknowledged Thakur’s ill health, evident from her reliance on supportive aid during the proceedings.

Thakur’s lawyer, Prashant Maggu, informed the court about her physical limitations, emphasizing her inability to sit, walk, or even sign, and submitted a medical certificate attesting to her condition. Upon reviewing her medical documentation, the court decided to cancel the warrant.

I find substance in the arguments of the defence lawyer as she appeared in the court with the help of supporting aid, the court observed.

It directed her presence in court on March 28 for further proceedings. Earlier, on March 11, the special court had issued a warrant worth Rs10,000 against Thakur, instructing the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to provide a report by March 20. Thakur was initially directed to appear before the court on Wednesday.
