The SIT informed the Kerala High Court that all 35 cases linked to the Justice Hema Committee report are being closed, stating, “No further action on 35 cases as victims didn’t come forward to give statements.”

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) informed the Kerala High Court on Wednesday that it has decided to take no further action on the 35 cases linked to the Justice Hema Committee report, as none of the victims have come forward to provide their statements.

In light of the SIT’s findings, a bench comprising Justices A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and C S Sudha stated that no additional action is required at this time regarding the crimes registered by the agency.

This decision follows multiple petitions calling for action based on the Hema Committee’s recommendations.

The court acknowledged that the state government has organized a Film Conclave for the first week of August 2025 and scheduled the petitions for further review on August 13.

The Justice Hema Committee was formed by the Kerala government in response to the 2017 actress assault case.

The committee’s comprehensive report was submitted to the Kerala High Court, which then directed that it be provided to the SIT for investigating allegations of sexual abuse within the film industry.

The Justice Hema Committee report, released in August 2023, led to many serious allegations like sexual harassment, rape, criminal threats, and other crimes against well-known actors and directors in the Malayalam film industry.

The report highlighted the regular problems faced by women in the industry and triggered a flood of complaints.
