Today (30th March) The Delhi Police has filed a chargesheet against NewsClick, accusing the news organization of propagating pro-China content. The chargesheet alleges that NewsClick was involved in spreading propaganda favorable to China’s interests.

New Delhi, Today (March 30): The Delhi Police filed a comprehensive chargesheet in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against the news portal NewsClick. The chargesheet, comprising numerous pages, accuses the organization of engaging in the dissemination of pro-china propaganda in exchange for a substantial sum of money.

According to reports, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police initiated the case last year, invoking sections 13, 16, 17, 18, and 22 of the UAPA, along with sections 153A and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sections pertain to the promotion of enmity between different groups based on religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, and acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony, as well as criminal conspiracy, respectively.
Moreover, on October 3, 2023, the Delhi Police arrested Prabir Purkayastha, the founder of NewsClick, and Amit Chakravarty, the Head of the Human resources Department, in connection with the case.
