A single-judge bench, led by Justice Saral Srivastava, directed the Bar Council of India (BCI) to allow the petitioner to submit his application within one week and appear for the AIBE scheduled on December 22.

Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court recently provided relief to a visually impaired candidate who missed the deadline for applying to the All-India Bar Examination (AIBE)-XIX due to a university error in his 5th-semester exam result.
A single-judge bench, led by Justice Saral Srivastava, directed the Bar Council of India (BCI) to allow the petitioner to submit his application within one week and appear for the AIBE scheduled on December 22.
Although the university eventually corrected the error and declared the candidate passed, the petitioner, Navendu Aggarwal, was unable to submit his AIBE-19 application before the November 15 deadline.

Initially, Aggarwal sought a correction in his exam result and permission to sit for the AIBE-19. The petitioner’s counsel explained that the error occurred because his answer printout was inadvertently not attached to his exam copy. Once corrected, the university issued the correct mark sheet, rendering the writ petition infructuous.
However, after considering the petitioner’s genuine circumstances and the BCI counsel’s assurance of a sympathetic review, the court directed the BCI to accept the late application.
Advocates Avanish Tripathi, Akash Patel, and Varun Singh represented the petitioner.
