NEW DELHI: A video clip from a virtual hearing at the Delhi High Court recently went viral on social media for all the wrong reasons. The clip, which shows a man in a lawyer’s attire in a compromising position with a woman for a few seconds, led to widespread speculation about the identity of the individual involved. Many social media users mistakenly claimed that the man was a judge.
The Source of Confusion
The misunderstanding appears to arise from the layout of the virtual courtroom during the October 14 hearing. A sub-window labeled “Court of HMJ Jyoti Singh” appeared directly above the lawyer’s video feed. This positioning caused many viewers to incorrectly assume that the man in question was Justice Jyoti Singh, one of the Delhi High Court’s women judges presiding over the case.
However, Justice Jyoti Singh’s video feed was not active at the time of the incident. The man in the video was, in fact, a lawyer appearing before the court virtually, not the judge.
It is not clear whether the lawyer forgot to turn off his video camera or whether his feed was added to the virtual courtroom by mistake. Regardless, the key point is that the individual in the clip is not a judge, contrary to viral claims circulating on social media.
The Incident
A video from a Delhi High Court virtual hearing went viral, showing a lawyer appearing to kiss a woman while waiting for the judge to join the session. The incident reportedly took place during an online proceeding, with the court not in session at that moment.
In the footage, the lawyer, dressed in court attire, is seen sitting in his room while the woman, in a saree, approaches him. He appears to pull her closer and peck her, despite her hesitant reaction. The identities of both individuals have not been confirmed, and the authenticity of the video remains unverified.
The clip sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users expressing shock and condemnation over the lawyer’s conduct.
