Sunjay Kapur Will Row: “Any Blind Man Can See the Signature”: Priya Sachdev Kapur Slams Forgery Claims in Delhi High Court

NEW DELHI: In a heated legal battle over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s will, his wife Priya Sachdev Kapur has told the Delhi High Court that there is “nothing suspicious” about her inheriting his estate. The statement comes amid allegations raised by Karisma Kapoor’s children, who have filed a suit accusing Priya Kapur of forging the will and attempting to take full control of the property.

Appearing for Kapur, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar emphasized that Sunjay Kapur’s will reflects family tradition rather than foul play.

“There is nothing suspicious about a husband bequeathing his assets to his wife. This was the case in my father-in-law’s will as well. This is a healthy tradition,”

Nayar argued before Justice Jyoti Singh.

Nayar further alleged that it is Karisma Kapoor’s side that has created suspicion by selectively withholding evidence.

“If you show the documents properly, there will be nothing suspicious. The will was in my custody, I handed it over to Defendant No. 4 [Executor Shraddha Suri Marwah]. Defendant No. 4’s email acknowledging receipt is also there.”

The court was hearing an interim injunction application filed by Karisma Kapoor’s two children, who are seeking to stop Priya Kapur from creating any third-party rights over Sunjay’s assets until the dispute is resolved.

The main civil suit alleges that the March 21, 2025, will, which leaves Sunjay Kapur’s entire personal estate to Priya, was forged.

Karisma’s side has suggested that the attesting witnesses to the will may have received pecuniary benefits following Kapur’s death. Nayar denied the claim unequivocally.

“They were employees and continue to be employees. There is no extra benefit at all. One of them has been made a non-executive director, without any remunerative benefits.”

Pointing to allegations that Sunjay Kapur’s signature on the will is fake, Nayar dismissed the accusation sharply:

“The argument that the will does not have Sunjay Kapur’s signature is to be laughed at. Any blind man can see that there is a signature.”

He added that both Sunjay and Priya executed their wills on the same day, and that registration was not mandatory for wills.
