The Delhi High Court has granted time till December 24 to Karisma Kapoor and Rani Kapur to file written submissions in the Sunjay Kapur will dispute. The case will be taken up further after final arguments are placed on record.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on 22 December in the dispute related to the personal estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur saw time extension after lawyers appearing for Karishma Kapoor and Rani Kapur asked the Court for more time to complete their filings.
The matter is part of an ongoing legal dispute concerning the estate left behind by Sunjay Kapur.
The Delhi High Court was informed that although detailed oral arguments had already been completed, the parties required additional time to place their final documents on record.
Counsel representing Karisma Kapoor and Rani Kapur requested extra time to file their “written submissions”. These submissions are important documents in which each side puts its full legal arguments in writing after oral hearings are concluded.
Considering the request, the Delhi High Court allowed the parties time and directed that the “written submissions” must be filed and placed on record by 24th December 2025. The Court clarified that only after the submissions are filed, the matter will be taken up again for further consideration.
The request for time came after the Court had already heard extensive oral arguments across multiple hearings. With oral arguments now closed, the case has entered the next procedural stage, where written submissions are filed to “crystallize each party’s legal position” before the Court decides whether to reserve the matter for orders.
The Court’s direction ensures that all parties get a final opportunity to clearly present their legal stand in writing, which will assist the Court in examining the issues involved in the dispute concerning the estate of the late industrialist before passing further orders.
The matter is now listed for further consideration on 24th December 2025, after the written submissions are filed within the timeline fixed by the Delhi High Court.
Background of the Last Hearing
In the ongoing Will dispute concerning the estate of Sunjay Kapur, multiple applications were taken up for hearing before the Joint Registrar of the Delhi High Court in the previous hearing. The matter was heard by Mr. Gagandeep Jindal, Joint Registrar.
One of the principal applications considered related to the inspection and forensic examination of the original Will placed on the court record. Karishma Kapoor’s children had sought inspection of the original Will for the purpose of independent verification through scientific and forensic methods, contending that such examination was necessary to ascertain the authenticity of the document.
The said application was opposed by Priya Sachdev Kapur, who claims rights under the Will.
Another application that came up for consideration was filed by Shradha Suri Marwah, seeking permission to amend her Written Statement.
Karishma Kapoor’s children objected to the proposed amendment, submitting that the request was made at a belated stage and was not bona fide.
After hearing submissions on both applications, the Joint Registrar directed that the matter be listed for further consideration on 20 January 2026.
The proceedings of the last hearing primarily revolved around procedural aspects concerning the inspection of the Will and the amendment of pleadings, which remain pending adjudication.
