The Bombay High Court has directed the Narcotics Control Bureau to return Rhea Chakraborty’s passport, citing her full compliance with bail conditions. This move comes as a major relief to the actor in the 2020 drugs case linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

New Delhi: The Bombay High Court has ordered the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to return her passport, which had been seized by the central law enforcement and intelligence agency in connection with the 2020 drugs case linked to the tragic death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

The passport was initially taken into custody as part of her bail conditions. The court observed that Rhea Chakraborty has followed all rules and regulations diligently so far and stated,

“there is no reason to doubt her presence during trial proceedings.”

This indicates that the court has full confidence in her cooperation with the ongoing legal process.

Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on September 8, 2020, by the NCB in connection with the drugs case associated with Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on June 14, 2020. The actor, known for her performances in films like Mere Dad Ki Maruti and Jalebi, was later granted bail in October 2020.

However, the court had imposed a condition that her passport would remain with the NCB, and she was required to seek prior permission from the trial court for any international travel.

This latest order by the Bombay High Court marks a crucial step in easing travel restrictions for Rhea Chakraborty while reinforcing the principle that those who follow bail conditions and court orders should not face unnecessary restrictions.

By returning her passport, the court has acknowledged her compliance and maintained faith in her adherence to legal procedures.

The case has remained in the public eye since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, and the involvement of Rhea Chakraborty in the drugs case had drawn extensive media attention.

The court’s decision to return her passport is expected to bring some relief to the actor, allowing her greater freedom of movement while continuing to comply with ongoing trial requirements.

This development highlights the Bombay High Court’s commitment to upholding procedural fairness and balancing the enforcement of legal conditions with individual rights.

As the legal proceedings continue, Rhea Chakraborty’s cooperation with the trial process remains a key factor in the court’s decisions.
