Justice Vimal Kumar Yadav Takes Oath as Delhi High Court Judge, Strength of Judges Now 44

NEW DELHI: Justice Vimal Kumar Yadav took oath as a judge of the Delhi High Court. The oath ceremony was conducted by Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, in the presence of other judges, court officials, and dignitaries.

This important appointment has increased the total number of judges in the Delhi High Court to 44, while the approved total strength for the court is 60 judges.

Justice Vimal Kumar Yadav has had a long career in the judicial service before being elevated to the High Court.

His name was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on 28 July.

After considering his qualifications, service record, and merit, the Central Government approved his appointment on 8 August.

Such appointments are part of the regular process to fill vacant posts in the judiciary and ensure that the courts function smoothly and handle the large number of pending cases.

With Justice Yadav joining the bench, it is expected that the Delhi High Court will be able to handle cases more efficiently.

Increasing the number of judges is seen as an important step towards reducing delays in justice delivery and ensuring that the legal system remains accessible to the public.

From Courtroom to High Court Bench: The Journey of Justice Vimal Kumar Yadav

Justice Vimal Kumar Yadav was born on 9 January 1965. He completed his B.Com (Hons) in 1985, followed by an LL.B. in 1986 and then an LL.M. in 2006. Additionally, he earned a post-graduate diploma in Cyber Laws and Internet and wrote legal articles for the DJA Journal. He even published two poetry collections.

He began his judicial career after joining the Delhi Judicial Service in 1992. In 2003, he was promoted to the Delhi Higher Judicial Service. From 2008 to 2010, he served as an Additional Registrar of the Supreme Court of India on deputation.

Before being sworn in as a judge of the Delhi High Court, he served as the Principal District & Sessions Judge in North District at the Rohini Courts Complex in Delhi.
