India’s Got Latent | Ashish Chanchlani Moves Guwahati High Court for Anticipatory Bail After FIR Over Vulgar Remarks

Guwahati: Popular YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani has approached the Guwahati High Court seeking anticipatory bail after an FIR was filed against him for his appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent.

On February 10, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Guwahati Police had registered an FIR against several YouTubers, including Ashish, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina, for allegedly promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions on the show.

The Guwahati Crime Branch has booked them under multiple laws, including:

Guwahati Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain confirmed the registration of the case and stated that strict action would be taken against the accused YouTubers.

“We have got one FIR explaining how these YouTubers made comments on the father, mother, and child relationship in an obscene manner. The main host was Samay Raina, and the person who made the comment in the clip is Ranveer Allahbadia. We are identifying all involved and will take the strictest measures possible,”

Jain told Media.

The backlash began after Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as Beer Biceps, asked a contestant,

“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”

The other panelists, including Ashish, laughed at the remark, which many viewers found vulgar and inappropriate. Following public outrage and criticism, Samay Raina deleted the videos from his YouTube channel.

Now, the matter is before the Guwahati High Court, where one of the accused has moved for anticipatory bail.
