Punjab: Today (10th July): The Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the Haryana Government to remove the barricades at the Shambhu border near Ambala within a week.
The Haryana Government had installed these barricades on the Ambala-New Delhi national highway in February when the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced their intention to move towards Delhi to support various demands, including a legal guarantee for MSP on crops.
The court’s directive came in response to a petition challenging the sealing of the border between Punjab and Haryana.

Haryana Additional Advocate General Deepak Sabharwal informed reporters that the court has instructed the Haryana government to remove the barricades within seven days. The court also noted that the government could take preventive action as per the law if any law and order issues arise.
The court also stated that if any law and order situation arises, the government can take preventive action as per the law.
“The Punjab government has also been instructed to remove any barricades on their side,”
Mr. Sabharwal said.
He added that the barricades were set up on February 10 to maintain law and order.
The SKM (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been leading the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march by farmers to urge the government to meet their demands.
Farmers have been stationed at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13, when their march was halted by security forces. However, the number of farmers at the site has gradually decreased.
