NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court is set to hear a case on Monday regarding the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) challenge against the bail given to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy-related money laundering matter.

The petition has been scheduled for a hearing before Justice Ravinder Dudeja.
Earlier, the court had postponed the hearing after the investigating agency’s lawyer requested more time.
Kejriwal’s lawyer argued that his bail should not be revoked, as all other accused in the money laundering case had already received bail.
The Supreme Court had granted Kejriwal interim bail on July 12 last year in this case. While doing so, the court referred three major questions to a larger bench regarding the “need and necessity of arrest” under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
On June 20, 2024, a trial court granted bail to Kejriwal on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. However, after ED challenged the bail, the Delhi High Court put a stay on it.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 and by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 26 last year in connection with money laundering and corruption cases.
The excise policy of 2021 was later scrapped in 2022 after the Delhi Lieutenant Governor ordered a CBI investigation into suspected irregularities and corruption in its creation and implementation.
As per the CBI and ED, several irregularities took place while changing the excise policy, and unfair benefits were allegedly given to certain licence holders.
