NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court today canceled the arrest of Thockchom Shyamjai Singh. He is called the self-styled Army Chief of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), as per the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Singh and some other people were arrested last year under a case filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani has now accepted Singh’s request and canceled his arrest.
“I am allowing their petition, arrests are quashed on the ground of Prabir Purkayastha read with Pankaj Bansal judgments. Order will be uploaded,”
-the judge said.

The NIA has said that Singh and his group were involved in a secret international plot. The leaders of some terror groups based in other countries planned to take advantage of the ethnic conflict in Manipur.
Their goal was to carry out terror attacks and start a war against the Indian government.
Singh and his group were accused of collecting money for the UNLF through extortion. They were also charged with recruiting people into the group and getting weapons to create violence in Manipur.
