The situation in Sandeshkhali, a region within the North 24 Parganas district, has become increasingly tense due to allegations of sexual assaults on women, reportedly involving individuals associated with the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
These grave accusations have widespread unrest and protests, drawing condemnation not only from the local community but also from various political factions, including the BJP, the CPI(M)-led Left Front, and the Congress. The collective outcry from these opposition parties underscores the gravity of the situation and emphasizes the urgent need for intervention.
Adhikari has not only sought permission to visit Sandeshkhali but has also called for the deployment of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in the area. This request aims to restore confidence among the villagers amidst the prevailing tensions. Adhikari’s advocate, Rajdeep Majumdar, conveyed to the court presided over by Justice Kaushik Chanda that the hearing for this matter is anticipated to take place on Monday.
