BREAKING | Bombay High Court Gets 3 Lawyers As New Judges: Central Government Clears Appointment

NEW DELHI: The Central Government has officially approved the appointment of three senior lawyers as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court.

This important decision was announced on Wednesday by Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The newly appointed Additional Judges are:

The appointment follows the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, which had suggested these names on 28 July 2025 for judgeship in the Bombay High Court.

As of 1 August 2025, the Bombay High Court is operating with 66 judges, whereas its sanctioned strength is 94. This means there are currently 28 vacant positions, impacting the court’s capacity to handle pending cases efficiently.

The Bombay High Court, one of the oldest and largest in the country, has jurisdiction over the states of Maharashtra and Goa, as well as the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The court has a long history of delivering landmark judgments and plays a key role in upholding justice in the region.
