The Delhi High Court dismissed the writ petition filed by the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), upholding the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) as the officially recognized National Sports Federation (NSF) for pickleball in India, reinforcing its governing authority.

NEW DELHI: The Honourable Delhi High Court dismissed a writ petitionbrought by the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), which challenged the designation of the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) as the National Sports Federation (NSF) for pickleball in India.

This petition, titled All India Pickleball Association v. Union of India & Anr. (W.P.(C) No. 5736 of 2025), reinforced IPA’s position as the officially recognized national governing body for the sport.

With this ruling, the IPA continues its role as the governing entity responsible for the development and management of pickleball at the national level. The federation has organized and supported over 100 tournaments and development events across various states, collaborating with state associations, private organizers, institutions, and athlete groups.

IPA’s initiatives have focused on establishing a structured competitive ecosystem, introducing standardized tournament frameworks, and promoting participation at both grassroots and elite levels.

Recently, the IPA has also begun to engage new stakeholders in the sport, including coaches, tournament partners, and institutional participants, which is contributing to the swift growth of pickleball in numerous regions of the country.

Commenting on the court’s ruling, Suryaveer Singh Bhullar, president of the Indian Pickleball Association, stated that the verdict benefits the sport and ensures continuity in its administration and the development of young talent at the national level.

Bhullar remarked,

“The judgment re-affirms status quo and underlines certainty to the governance of pickleball in India. It allows all stakeholders to focus on the larger objective of strengthening the ecosystem, expanding participation at a national level, and creating sustainable pathways for players and competition development,”

The Indian Pickleball Association is the official governing body for pickleball in India, dedicated to promoting, developing, and organizing the sport across the nation. The association continues to motivate players of all ages and skill levels to take up the game through events such as the IPA Nationals. IPA is affiliated with the Asian Pickleball Association (APA) and the Global Pickleball Federation (GPF).
